SketchUp extension · Architectural models

Your model,ready to cut.

Maquora turns SketchUp buildings into laser-ready scale models. Joints, kerf, nesting and grain — handled while you watch.

The workflow

One window. Three steps.

Maquora lives inside SketchUp. Detect the geometry, set material and scale, export for the machine.

Capabilities

Everything between the model and the machine.

01Joinery

Finger joints, drawn for you

Every meeting edge gets matching teeth, sized to the material thickness. Walls lock into slabs and corners hold square — no glue clamps, no guesswork.

Teeth are generated per edge pair and stay complementary after kerf.

2.4 mm · 11 segments

02Precision

Kerf, compensated

The beam eats a fraction of a millimetre on every pass. Maquora offsets each path so the gap you set is the gap you get after cutting — joints stay snug.

Set it once per material. Every outline, slot and tooth is corrected.

03Material

Nesting that respects your sheets

Pieces are packed onto commercial sheet sizes with the spacing you choose. Fewer sheets, less waste — and no manual Tetris the night before a review.

Rotation-aware packing with per-sheet margins.

04Wood

Grain runs the right way

Pieces that need strength — or need to look right — keep their orientation. The packer works around them instead of rotating them flat against the grain.

Per-piece grain lock, honoured during nesting.

Locking grain can cost a little material — Maquora tells you exactly how much, and keeps the pieces strong.

05Texture

Textures become engravings

Brick and panel patterns from your SketchUp materials are recognized and redrawn clean. Irregular textures are traced. The engrave layer ships separate from the cut.

Pattern regeneration, not a bitmap trace of a bitmap.

06Files

SVG and DXF, layer-perfect

Cut lines and engrave lines on their own layers, one file per sheet, named and scaled in real millimetres. Opens correctly in LightBurn, RDWorks and your CAM of choice.

No unit surprises. No stray construction geometry.

07Scale

Whole buildings, in one pass

Multi-storey models export floor by floor, thickness by thickness — a numbered sheet set, ready for the workshop queue.

Every sheet labelled: material, thickness, count.

08Time

Three days of drafting. Twenty minutes.

Flattening a model by hand means exploding, tracing, offsetting and arranging every piece. Maquora does the drafting so the studio time goes into the building.

Model → cut files, inside SketchUp, before the coffee is cold.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

When does Maquora launch?

Maquora is in private beta with architecture studios and university labs. Waitlist members get access first — and launch pricing when it ships.

Do I need a specific laser cutter?

No. Maquora exports standard SVG and DXF with cut and engrave lines on separate layers, so it works with LightBurn, RDWorks, Trotec, Epilog and virtually any laser software.

Which SketchUp versions are supported?

Current SketchUp releases on Windows and macOS. The exact minimum version will be confirmed at launch.

Which materials does it understand?

Balsa, cardboard, MDF, plywood and acrylic ship built in, with commercial sheet formats and per-material minimum cut widths. Custom materials and sheet sizes are supported.

How does kerf compensation work?

You set the kerf once per material. Maquora offsets every path — outlines, slots and finger-joint teeth — so the dimensions after cutting match the dimensions you asked for.

Is there an educational license?

Yes — accredited schools and fab labs get special terms and classroom seat packs. Join the waitlist and mention your institution in the company field.
